New Feature: Data Grid Hyperlinking
Users can access the most commonly used functions directly by clicking data grid item names.
For example, clicking the names of Graphs or LiveTiles will display their corresponding generated visualization.

Improved Feature: Navigation Accordion
Multiple panels can now be open simultaneously.

Improved Feature: Data Grid Panel
Data grids can now vertically scroll through 250 grid rows on a single page.
Data grid panels' details section can now be collapsed with the "- Details" button in order to see more grid rows at once. This can be undone by expanding the details section again with the "+ Details" button or by selecting a grid row.
Data grid columns have been updated to show more relevant information.

New Feature: Updated Version Button
A new orange button at the top of the page directs users to the LiveDC Updates wiki page to let them know about the new version's features.

LiveDC Hosting Upgrade 4/23/2019

LiveDC has moved to a new and improved backend platform. This allows new features and enhancements to be developed for LiveDC.

LIVE Platform Improvements 11/14/2014

We continue to make changes that improve the performance and functionality of the LIVE platform -- the foundation of our inaugural Service via Software (SvS), LiveDC.

1. Performance improvements - Changes to the platform and improved storage efficiency cut our storage space requirements by almost 50% and improved overall performance response time across the board!
2. The import and export for data series points has been updated to include additional details. We recommend current users export a couple of data series to get the updated spreadsheet and use it as a template for future imports.
3. We have improved the audit record of user-modified data points to track the original and changed values, along with who changed them and when the change was made.
4. Admin users can now delete source data points (source data is collected from an external source – with a Poll Type of ‘Manual’, ‘SNMPv1’, or ‘URLScrape’).
5. Resolved a bug that caused derived data series to not generate data series timing warning notifications. LiveDC users that have derived data series with no recent data points may have received new notification events following Friday’s maintenance window.
6. Resolved a bug where non-responsive sensors were causing performance issues.
7. Resolved a bug that caused LiveTiles to not always render number formatting correctly.

Link Layers and Other Enhancements 10/14/2014

Link Layers
This major piece of functionality allows a user to create links on a Map that can navigate to other Maps, LiveTiles, Graphs, Accounts, and Hardware records. We can also create links to any URL i.e.video cameras, web-based management tools, etc.

Layer Display Options
We added the ability for each Layer in a Map to have custom display options for the Ages, Dots, Names, Outlines, and Values -- including custom colors for those items! This helps to visually organize what a user sees in a Map. The interface for moving Influences on a Map was also simplified.

Performance Improvement
We dramatically improved the performance for some of the drop-down lists to be populated in LiveControl. This helps the forms for records fill in faster, and the buttons to be enabled sooner.

Favicon
Web browsers will now use the LiveDC logo for the small icon in the browser tab and bookmarks.

Elicit Efficiency Upgrade 8/12/2014

The Elicit software has been upgraded to consume less disk space.

During normal operations, Elicit takes very little disk space. However, during communication outages or maintenance windows with LiveDC, the Elicit software stores polling results locally until communication is restored. This upgrade cuts the local storage requirement by roughly 90%. This means Elicit can now store ten times the polling results in the same amount of disk space.

The end result: Elicit can handle being disconnected from LiveDC for much longer before disk space becomes a concern.

LiveDC New User Interface 8/11/2014

Introducing Elicits, LiveTiles, and Maps!
We're now using the new names of LiveTiles, Maps, and Elicits – instead of Cogs, Heatmaps, and Collectors. We think these new names are a better representation of the two types of visualizations within LiveDC and the collector.

New User Interface!
We've been developing, testing, and refining a new user experience for the last several months and we're proud to now have it available to all users! The new interface is called LiveView, and it specializes in viewing your content from LiveDC, on screens as small as a smartphone. The traditional interface, known now as LiveControl, has all the capabilities needed to administer and maintain your LiveDC Account. Users will have the option to pick which interface they want to use, and switch between them as needed.

LiveDC Resiliency 7/5/2014

LiveDC databases were migrated to Amazon RDS to provide additional resiliency regional distribution services among different geographical zones in the US.

LiveDC Poll Type and Data Series Tags 5/28/2014

New Poll Type: RecordCount
This type of data series poll uses a saved search criteria to count how many records match the criteria, and records that value as a data point. There are a few specific searches which are known not to work.  The Extended Name fields are not included in the audit tables, and won’t work for this poll type.  Also, searches for data series points will not work, since those are audited differently at the current time.

Data Series Tags appear in Notification Emails
Messages generated by the notification system will now include the tag names for an affected data series.  This is useful for clients with similar-named data series at multiple locations, assuming they are tagged with something to identify the location.

LiveDC Updates 12/5/2013

1. Added a new Service Type (used in Hardware Service Infos) of “Unknown”, this is to support clients that have items that need to be verified.
2. Fixed issues with exporting records with Payments and/or Service Infos.  The export used to fail on the server and appear to hang in the UI.
3. Changed some logic to be more efficient when checking for notification rules being matched.  Processing time has been reduced from 70+ seconds to about 5 seconds.

LiveDC Introducing Notifications 10/31/2013

There’s a new section in the left-side navigation called Notifications.  It works by users (Admin or Owner) defining rules, which currently have three types of triggers, defined below. The rules will create events, which can send out emails at the start of the event, repeat them on a timed basis, and send a final one once the event is cleared.

1. Collector Not Responding – when a collector stops communicating for a specified amount of time.
2. Data Series Timing Warning – when a data series hasn’t had a new data point in the warning period defined by its timing template.
3. Data Series Number Threshold – when a number data series has had values that breach a given simple threshold, a number of consecutive times.  For instance, the trigger could be “when the last 3 data points are all >= 90”.

LiveDC Introducing Search and New Build 9/19/2013

The tabs for each record type now include a search button on the right hand side, above the table. Clicking the search button brings up a very powerful / flexible search dialog, which defaults to a simple “Status” “Equals” “Active” criteria. While most searches will likely be fairly simple (for instance “Name” “Contains” “XYZ”), LiveDC can also handle some very complex searches: nested ANDs, ORs, check if items are in lists, timestamps are before / after certain times, etc.

1. Export is Search-Aware: The export button now only exports the items matching the search criteria, allowing for more fine-tuned exports with only the items you want.
2. Import and export functionality updates: Improvements have been made, which should allow easier import of some of the more complex records, such as hardware assets.
3. Last modified and created information (time and by who) are now displayed for most records.
