==Creating a LiveTile==
A LiveTile is a way to display executive level data regarding, but not limited to, power, space, and cooling. We see LiveTiles as a dashboard approach to visually display your data. You will choose the appropriate data series to show specific metrics within your LiveTile. These data series include:
*Time to live – The remaining time before a certain resource has been used up, if it continues to grow at a steady rate
*Scale max – The maximum amount of the resource that you wish to display (maximum ports, maximum space, maximum power, etc.)
*Scale min – The minimum amount of the resource that you wish to display (minimum power, minimum space, etc.)
*Scale built – Typically for space tracking within the server cabinet. The amount of RUs built out for usage. In more generic terms, the amount of a resource that has been built out to be consumed
*Scale current – The amount of the resource that your data center is currently consuming or any other factor is currently consuming
*Format override for max – A number format template to change the suffix of a number in a data series to input into a LiveTile
**Example: 10 Amps to 1 kW, 23 to 23 RUs, etc.
*Format override for min – A number format template to change the suffix of a number in a data series to input into a LiveTile
**Example: 1 kW to 10 Amps, 30 to 30 RUs, etc.

<li>Within the LiveTiles tab (upper left-hand corner) click the “Create” button. A new window will open up called “Create LiveTile.”</li>

==Creating a Map==
A map is a customizable representation of data where individual values contained in the visual are shown by colors. Fed by data series, a map can show many different types of data, such as power usage, temperature, humidity, etc. A map does not just need to be an image of your data center, you can place an influence on any transparent image uploaded into LiveDC. You will need to gather the following information prior to creating a map:
*Name of the map
*Width in pixels of the map (determined by looking at the properties of the image)
*Height in pixels of the map (determined by looking at the properties of the image)
*The legend that corresponds with the map (Temp, Humidity, Power, Cost, etc.)
**This is the representative color scale you see at the bottom of each map
*The layers that will make up your map (solid background, influences layer, transparent floor layout, etc.)
**Most maps are made of those three (3) layers
**A good way to make your floor layout transparent is to use an open source program called GIMP, which can be downloaded from the web
***Import the floor layout into GIMP
***Change all colors to “Gray scale” by selecting mode under the image menu
***Create a black border for the floor layout using the selection tool under the tools menu in GIMP
***Select ‘Color to Alpha’ from the colors menu to change the selected area into a transparent part of the image
***Export the image as a .PNG file and save to your preferred location
***Import the PNG file into LiveDC utilizing the “Uploaded Images” feature (see “Uploading an Image” for more information)

We continue to make changes that improve the performance and functionality of the LIVE platform -- the foundation of our inaugural Service via Software (SvS), LiveDC.

<li>Performance improvements - Changes to the platform and improved storage efficiency cut our storage space requirements by almost 50% and improved overall performance response time across the board!</li>
<li>The import and export for data series points has been updated to include additional details. We recommend current users export a couple of data series to get the updated spreadsheet and use it as a template for future imports.</li>
<li>We have improved the audit record of user-modified data points to track the original and changed values, along with who changed them and when the change was made.</li>
<li>Admin users can now delete source data points (source data is collected from an external source – with a Poll Type of ‘Manual’, ‘SNMPv1’, or ‘URLScrape’).</li>
<li>Resolved a bug that caused derived data series to not generate data series timing warning notifications. LiveDC users that have derived data series with no recent data points may have received new notification events following Friday’s maintenance window.</li>
<li>Resolved a bug where non-responsive sensors were causing performance issues.</li>
<li>Resolved a bug that caused LiveTiles to not always render number formatting correctly.</li>

==Elicit Efficiency Upgrade 8/12/2014==
The Elicit software has been upgraded to consume less disk space.

During normal operations, Elicit takes very little disk space. However, during communication outages or maintenance windows with LiveDC, the Elicit software stores polling results locally until communication is restored. This upgrade cuts the local storage requirement by roughly 90%. This means Elicit can now store ten times the polling results in the same amount of disk space.

The end result: Elicit can handle being disconnected from LiveDC for much longer before disk space becomes a concern.

The new interface is called LiveView, and it specializes in viewing your content from LiveDC, on screens as small as a smartphone. Users will have the option to pick which interface they want to use, and switch between them as needed.

This type of data series poll uses a saved search criteria to count how many records match the criteria, and records that value as a data point. There are a few specific searches which are known not to work.  The Extended Name fields are not included in the audit tables, and won’t work for this poll type.  Also, searches for data series points will not work, since those are audited differently at the current time.
 
 
''Data Series Tags appear in Notification Emails'' 
Messages generated by the notification system will now include the tag names for an affected data series.  This is useful for clients with similar-named data series at multiple locations, assuming they are tagged with something to identify the location.

There’s a new section in the left-side navigation called Notifications.  It works by users (Admin or Owner) defining rules, which currently have three types of triggers, defined below. The rules will create events, which can send out emails at the start of the event, repeat them on a timed basis, and send a final one once the event is cleared.

==LiveDC Introducing Search and New Build 9/19/2013==
The tabs for each record type now include a search button on the right hand side, above the table. Clicking the search button brings up a very powerful / flexible search dialog, which defaults to a simple “Status” “Equals” “Active” criteria. While most searches will likely be fairly simple (for instance “Name” “Contains” “XYZ”), LiveDC can also handle some very complex searches: nested ANDs, ORs, check if items are in lists, timestamps are before / after certain times, etc.

<li>Export is Search-Aware: The export button now only exports the items matching the search criteria, allowing for more fine-tuned exports with only the items you want.</li>
<li>Import and export functionality updates: Improvements have been made, which should allow easier import of some of the more complex records, such as hardware assets.</li>
<li>Last modified and created information (time and by who) are now displayed for most records.</li>
