===Instructions=== <ol> <li>First you need to upload a PNG floor plan into LiveDC (See [[#Uploading an Image|Uploading an Image]] section for instructions) </li> <li>Once the floor plan is uploaded into LiveDC, On the navigation menu (left-hand side) click “Extras” and click “Layers” this will open a new tab titled “Layers”</li> <li>Within the layers tab (upper left-hand corner) click the “Create” button. A new window will open up called “Create Layer.”</li> <ol type="a"> <li>Enter the name of the layer in the "Name" Field</li> <ol type="i"> <li>Examples: Server Room Floor Plan, Data Center Floor Plan</li> </ol> <li>Enter additional information about the layer in the "Details" field</li> <li>For a floor plan layer, we will select "Image" in the "Layer Type" drop-down menu</li> <ol type="i"> <li>In the drop-down list find the floor plan image you uploaded in step 1</li> <li>Select "center" from the "Placement" drop-down menu</li> [[File:Image Layer.JPG]] </ol> <li>Click "Create"</li> </ol> <li>Next we need to create a Solid Background layer for the map</li> <ol type="a"> <li>Again, in the upper left-hand corner click "Create"</li> <li>Enter the name of the layer in the "Name" Field</li> <ol type="i"> <li>Examples: Solid Background</li> </ol> <li>Enter additional information about the layer in the "Details" field</li> <li>For a solid background layer, we will select "Solid" in the "Layer Type" drop-down menu</li> <li>Select the color you want the background to be</li> <ol type="i"> <li>We like to use #808080</li> </ol> <li>Enter the Transparency Percent</li> <ol type="i"> <li>We usually do 0%</li> [[File:Solid Layer.JPG]] </ol> <li>Click "Create"</li> </ol> <li>On the navigation menu (left-hand side) click “Visuals” and click “Maps” this will open a new tab titled “Maps”</li> <li>Within the maps tab (upper left-hand corner) click the “Create” button. A new window will open up called “Create Map.”</li> <ol type="a"> <li>Enter the name of the map in the “Name” field</li> <ol type="i"> <li>Examples: Operational Model – Cooling, Power %, Operational Cost per Cabinet, etc.</li> </ol> <li>Enter any additional information about the map in the “Details” field</li> <li>Define a horizontal size in pixels for the map in the “Width” field</li> <ol type="i"> <li>A good rule of thumb is to look at the properties of the image and use those predefined dimensions (usually no more than 1650 pixels)</li> </ol> <li>Define a vertical size in pixels for the map in the “Height” field</li> <ol type="i"> <li>A good rule of thumb is to look at the properties of the image and use those predefined dimensions (usually no more than 1300 pixels)</li> </ol> <li>Add a legend to the map in the section titled “Legends” by selecting from the drop down menu and clicking the left-hand facing arrow or create a new “Legend” record by clicking the star button (See [[#Creating a Legend|Creating a Legend]] section for instructions)</li> <li>In the Map Layers section, click the star button</li> <li>Select the "Solid Background" layer from the drop-down list</li> <ol type="i"> <li>Change the red x to a green check mark for "Show Dots" and "Show Values"</li> <li>Do not change line color, text color, background color or background transparency percent</li> [[File:Solid Map Layer.JPG]] <li>Click "Add"</li> </ol> <li>Again, click the star button in the Map Layers section</li> <li>Select the floor plan layer you created above from the drop-down list</li> <ol type="i"> <li>Change the red x to a green check mark for "Show Dots"</li> <li>Do not change line color, text color, background color or background transparency percent</li> [[File:Floor plan map layer.JPG]] <li>Click "Add"</li> </ol> <li>Click "Create"</li> </ol> <li>You have now created a Map with a floor plan.
